P.E. Riley Sanitarian of the Year Award

 

Our association’s highest award, recognizes a member of our association for outstanding professional excellence and service to our organization.  The award is named for the first secretary of our association, P. Edward Riley.  P.E. or “Pete” joined the infant International Association of Milk Sanitarians and was instrumental in forming the Illinois chapter in the early 1940’s.  “Pete” specialized in milk pasteurization and traveled the state for the Illinois Department of Public Health.  He worked tirelessly with municipal and county health departments encouraging professional development of public health practitioners.
